The DSK scandal seems to reflect/contain/epitomize the essence of the cultural differences between America (Anglos) and France (Latins? Europeans?): the distinction between seduction and rape, charm and violence, transparency and justice, freedom of the press and right to privacy and more. The French are horrified that the Americans could humiliate anyone who hasn’t been judged guilty, the Americans are more convinced than ever that the French deserve their reputation as lechers. Those familiar with both cultures – feminists and francophiles – are reeling.
