THE SUBLIME SELLING THE RIDICULOUS?

Two French classic songs are being used in American TV ads to sell American products.

Edith Piaf belts out her famous “Non, je ne regrette rien” to sell Cadillac cars and Jeanne Moreau sweetly sings “Le Tourbillon,” the song she made famous in “Jules et Jim,” for Turbo Tax.

Hein?!?

Moreau’s original version is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjJqHF0mb_k&spfreload=10

My friend, Louise, sent me a mind-blowing, recent version led by Vanessa Paradis, who is eventually, delightfully, joined by Moreau herself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01dZbOYucMI&spfreload=10
